ANIMATING THE SPIRIT is a retrospective installation of Cook’s work over the past 30 years. Cook is a master puppet maker, theatre maker, community activist and filmmaker. Although she has travelled, studied and toured around the world, Calgary has been where her artistic practice has developed. This exhibition will present a wide range and depth of Cook’s work as a sculptor, visual artist, performer and filmmaker.
Xstine is a multi-disciplinary artist who studied mask and puppetry in Bali, Italy, France, and the West Coast of Canada. She graduated from Dell’Arte International Theatre School in California and is a founder of Green Fools Theatre and Calgary Animated Objects. Xstine teaches animation and puppetry, and creates art with communities including giant puppets and award-winning short films. Currently Xstine curates the International Festival of Animated Objects, a biennial festival of mask and puppetry, running March 10-15, 2015.
