Williams’ installation, SHE TOLD ME I WOULD REMEMBER… is comprised of multiple sheets of layered, wood-stained Mylar carrying bits of diaristic text. Her installation addresses how personal narratives, history, and memory are legitimized through various institutional modes of presentation.
Originally from St. Albert, Alberta, RENEE WILLIAMS is presently finishing her painting degree at the Alberta College of Art and Design. During the past three years, she has worked in St. Albert as a visual arts instructor, a coordinator for visual arts youth summer programs, and, in Calgary, as a guide for the Mattart Public Art Gallery’s school tour program. In the future, Renee intends to combine her studio work with her interest in the education of children.
