EXHIBITION INFORMATION
ARTIFICIAL AWE questions the viewer’s experience of the artificial and its beauty. Sometimes, the artificial imitates its real counterpart to the extent of surpassing it in beauty. For example, the movie Avatar created an artificial world of magical flora and fauna that transcended reality. Drawing on these design elements, my sculptural flower installations feign reality in a manner that challenges the viewer’s senses of comprehension. I make use of multiples and scale to present the familiar flower garden in unexpected settings. This work creates an opportunity for viewers to question their relationship with reality and the artificial.
