EXHIBITION INFORMATION

DISPERSION explores a formal relationship between geometric patterns, organic shapes, and a luscious palette that has been extrapolated from corporate brand culture—namely, the BP logo. These elements combine to offer a rich aesthetic experience, while overtones of consumption, pollution, and scarcity provide a counterpoint to the works visual qualities.

ARTIST BIO

RYAN SMITHAM is an Alberta-based artist working in a wide range of themes and media. He received a B.F.A. and a B.Ed. from the University of Lethbridge, Alberta in 2003 and 2005, and an M.F.A. from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 2013. Ryan currently teaches Visual Art at the Alberta High School of Fine Arts in Okotoks, Alberta.
