EXHIBITION INFORMATION

JIM LAING’S miniature worlds vary from sprawling, surreal landscapes, to highly detailed civilizations. In his most recent installation My Atlantis, Laing has created his own lost city of Atlantis. Created by hand and painted gold, Laing’s worlds are open to interpretation and stimulate the imagination. His pieces balance somewhere between reality and fiction, drawing influence from mythology, literature and film. He is drawn to miniatures for a variety of reasons — they allow a window into an alternate universe, and the small scale creates an omnipotent feeling of power in the work’s creator and its viewer.
