BRANDON DALMER is a meticulous guy; spending most of his time in the studio tracing the same images over and over while watching Thundercats, in a vain effort to gain a window into perfection. “Tautological Observance” explores the idea of the often-unnecessary repetition of images and ideas within Brandon’s work, as well as the ritualistic process in which he follows. Drawing inspiration from various low art forms of working, such as tracing, paint by numbers; as well as an atrocious domestic aesthetic, and use of 1970’s wood paneling, Brandon constructs a vague narrative within a cluster of finely tuned drawings.
BRANDON A. DALMER is from Edmonton, AB. Where he lived, drew, and mostly played D&D until attending the Alberta College of Art and Design where he received a BFA in Painting. Currently he resides in Calgary where he lives and works. Brandon is one of the founders of the 809 Gallery, which is an alternative artist-run gallery operating from out of his garage. He is also one of the board members of the New Gallery. He is also an Artist, and still plays D&D.
