EXHIBITION INFORMATION

The Flag is about the relationship between body and landscape relative to painting. This is a new landscape painting. The canvas is no longer framed, it is presented as separate from the world: it exists in the world as an object. The three-dimensional form it takes and what areas of it are visible are factors of staging and chance; always in response to site and weather. Its accumulates the marks of travelling and direct contact with the physical landscape. By being released from its stretcher, the painting can achieve body, thereby transcending its condition as image.

ARTIST BIO

Bogdan Luca is a Toronto-based artist working with painting, drawing and digital processes. He complete a BFA at OCADU and an MFA at the University of Toronto. Bogdan is an instructor at OCAD University and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
