THE RISE AND FALL – SHELLEY MILLER

MAIN SPACE EXHIBITION
MAY 16 – JUNE 14, 2003
RECEPTION: FRIDAY, MAY 16 AT 8 PM

LOCATION – STRIDE GALLERY
1004, MACLEOD TRAIL S.E, CALGARY, ALBERTA

EXHIBITION INFORMATION

Shelley Miller’s work romanticizes the past through her archictural and ‘decorative’ installations using domestic materials like cake frosting and aluminum pans. For THE RISE AND FALL, Miller will be constructing a false tin ceiling that will reference the style of Romanesque architecture. Each aluminum pan will be individually carved to fit within a mathematically calculated perspective drawing pattern that will produce the illusion of an ornate domed ceiling. As viewers move through the space the illusion will slowly break away.
