ABOUT
Stride Gallery is located in Mohkinstsis, the traditional territories of Treaty 7 people. Our activities take place on the land that is and has been from time immemorial stewarded and cared for by the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Iyarhe/Stoney Nakoda people comprising the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations. The City of Calgary is also home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta Districts 5 and 6.
MANDATE
Stride is a non-for-profit artist run centre that values experimental, risk-taking art work, and fosters community conversation and participation.
MISSION
Stride provides gallery exhibition spaces as well as research and presentation opportunities for diverse art projects that encourage the reconsideration and reframing of conventional points of view.
VISION
Stride stimulates a curious and engaged society that recognizes contemporary artists for their commitment to critical discourse, research, creative expression and their contributions to community and culture.
ACCESSIBILITY
Stride Gallery is accessible. The gallery space is on the second-level of an elevator accessible building, and the washrooms are wheelchair accessible.
