EXHIBITION INFORMATION

DU COEUR is part of a series of interactive works by Craig Fahner that amplify physiological rhythms and signals onto musical instruments. In this piece, the heartbeats of two participants are correlated into musical rhythms. Heart rate monitors amplify the users’ heartbeats onto a set of mechanically-triggered bass drums. Participants can hear the syncopation of their two hearts by experiencing the piece simultaneously. With this piece, visitors experience a direct translation of their body’s internal rhythms, making clamorously present the energetic activity within the spectator.

ARTIST BIO

CRAIG FAHNER is an artist based in Calgary, Alberta. A recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s Master of Fine Arts program, Craig is interested in reconstituting technology to create work that engages physical space, enabling kinesthesis and exploration as modes of critical interpretation.
