EXHIBITION INFORMATION

IMPERFECTIONS travels backward along the process to question the nature of illness and the conditions from which we are healed. Many “conditions” (alternative sexual orientation, extra or deviant chromosomes, physical variations from the norm such as webbed or extra fingers, etc.) exist primarily in language. Gogarty’s paintings will examine and question models of normalcy proposed by science, as well as to seek out, cherish, and give presence to “imperfections” – the abnormalities that make growth change, adaptation and mutation possible.
