EXHIBITION TEXT

These pieces are small assemblages which incorporate a variety of subject matter and materials. Each one is built up gradually over an extended period of time and contains layers (some obscured) of colors, images, textures, and words.

The work process is an indirect exploration of various concerns, as triggered by particular events, objects, or observations. Some of the ideas that recur have to do with identity, memory, and sexuality.

The completed pieces contain specific references for me, but their significance may vary depending on the individual seeing them. They are intended to make available thoughts, questions, and ways of seeing which might not have occurred without them.
