EXHIBITION INFORMATION
PRESENCE THROUGH ABSENCE is a solo exhibition of ceramic sculpture timed to coincide with the 1997 International Ceramic Symposium in Calgary. Ailincai’s point of departure is an aesthetic response to her intellectual understanding of all of the surrounding world and culture. She is involved in an on-going dialogue concerning the specificity of perceived location in time and space. Ailincai uses visual representations that examine an historical structure of communication originally documented by ancient charts, scrolls, alphabetical systems, navigational instruments and time keeping devices.
