EXHIBITION INFORMATION

PUBLIC GOOD references the historical phenomena of book burnings as public manifestations of institutionally governed protest and censorship. During a one-week performance Renato Vitic systematically render anonymous the content of approximately 400 books and then destroy them physically within the window space. The window space was filled floor to ceiling with the remnants of the shredded books for the duration of the rest of the exhibition.

 

ARTIST BIO

RENATO VITIC is an emerging artist and received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2001 and is currently the Mountain Standard Time Performative Festival Coordinator.
