EXHIBITION INFORMATION
Rosche is interested in the comfort zones that people construct around themselves, and how these zones might be abolished or dismantled while being isolated within a group situation. Her installation CREW, is made up of four vinyl sacs filled with water. Each vessel is measured and hung according to proportions of the body. Water slowly drips from the seams of each sac and collects in the mound of coal placed underneath. Dramatic lighting emphasizes the silence and stillness of her transparent containers while referencing the body/mind, body/body, and body/emotion relationships.
EXHIBITION TEXT
Christine Rosche works during the summer as a professional forest fighter. Group dynamics are crucial to the success of her team while fighting fires. Individual roles need to work and combine together to provide a cohesive group. They become a “whole”.
